 Missouri Gambling: Casinos, Poker, Pari-mutuel

Missouri Casinos and Gambling

Missouri Gambling :: Missouri Casino :: Missouri Casinos

Kansas isn?t too far away, but if it?s gambling you want, it is to Missouri you go! The other side of the river looks a bit ?greener,? too! In fact, the Missouri side of Kansas City is where the gambling fun (we?re talking casinos!) is, so head on over to get the party started.

There are eleven casinos in Missouri?one even so rightly named the ?Mark Twain Casino? in LaGrange, Missouri?the number not reflecting the riverboats that populate the state, either.

Kansas City offers large hotel-casinos such as Ameristar, Argosy, and Harrah?s, all relatively close to each other. Harrah?s boasts 65,000 square feet of casino, along with over 1,700 slot machines (cha-ching!), and a whopping 50 table games. And if you?re hungry, don?t be shy, grab a bite to eat in either of the casino?s five restaurants. Sleepy? the hotel offers around 200 rooms.

But Kansas City, Missouri is not the only town in Missouri that?s worth traveling to, for the average (or leisurely or aggressive) gambler?no way, not by a long shot! In fact, a lot of gamblers actually prefer St. Louis to Kansas City.

Unlike other states, however, Missouri has enacted a law that prohibits patrons from gambling over $500 within two hours. However, if after two hours the gambler has decided that he or she would like to ?buy-in? again, the law allows another $500 to be spent. Because of this law, it is required that casinos keep track very closely to all of its patrons? winnings, earnings, and spendings. The legal age of gambling in Missouri, like most states, has risen to the age of 21, and patrons must present a valid state-issued ID when attempting entry into any Missouri casino. Those under 21 are not allowed on the floor of the casino.

In fact, ever since river boat gambling was legalized in Missouri, ?river boat? casinos have popped up all over St. Louis! There?s even a Harrah?s on the river as well as Casino Magic, and a President?s Casino. Harrah?s in St. Louis touts that it?s casino has over 2,900 slot machines, 900 of those being penny slots! There are 75 table games, those of which include ?stand-up? blackjack and a live poker room.

But there is more to gambling in Missouri than just casinos?the state also offers its own lottery, the Missouri Lottery, and it also has legalized horse racing and gambling as well.

And for those gamblers who?d like to see some of the local flare of the Missouri cities, check out the Plaza in downtown Kansas City, and window shop in gorgeous, breathtaking Spanish architecture; or go play badminton with the god?s at Missouri?s own Nelson-Atkin?s Museum of Art. Or if you?re in St. Louis, you?d be hard-pressed not to take a visit to the arch, the so-called ?gateway? to the West, or place your bets on a Rams game or cool off at a Blues hockey game.
